“UEH100 - Program for Attracting Top-Tier Faculty and Researchers” is a strategic initiative of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) designed to attract outstanding global scholars, experts, and researchers to join UEH as Affiliated Academic Members. The program offers a comprehensive framework to foster meaningful academic engagement and long-term collaboration with distinguished academics beyond the traditional tenure-track structure.
Under this program, Visiting Professor positions are open to internationally recognized professors from leading universities and research institutions worldwide who are invited to collaborate with UEH in teaching, research, and academic development. Cooperation may take place through short-term visits (a definite visiting period annually) and hybrid collaborations, allowing flexible engagement depending on professors’ schedules.
Eligibility / Requirements
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Currently holds the title of Full Professor or at least Associate Professor at a reputable university or research institute worldwide (ranked within the Top 500 globally according to QS or THE rankings).
- Possess a strong individual citation record (H-index): 30–50+ for Natural Sciences and Engineering; 15–25+ for Social Sciences and Humanities.
- Have at least one publication in top-tier journals, such as Q1 journals indexed in Web of Science (SSCI, SCIE), ABDC A* journals, Financial Times (FT50) journals, or other leading journals in the field (e.g., Nature, Science, or Top 5 journals in disciplines relevant to UEH). Total citations should reach approximately 1,500–3,000 in Economics and Social Sciences, or 5,000–15,000 in Natural Sciences and Engineering/Technology.
- Regularly serve as a Keynote Speaker at reputable international conferences or as a member of the Editorial Board of A-ranked academic journals.
- Have a strong track record of successfully supervising PhD students and leading high-performing research groups.
Collaboration Scope / Expected Outputs
Visiting Professors at UEH are expected to contribute through the following activities:
- Be physically present and work at UEH for at least three (3) months per year; the remaining period may be conducted online.
- Deliver specialized courses or lectures, either on-site or online (during periods outside UEH), aligned with their areas of expertise, with priority given to Master’s and PhD programs.
- Supervise graduate students, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral researchers in theses, dissertations, and research projects, closely linked to the outputs of the research group.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of academic programs, including program accreditation and improving the quality of English-taught programs in line with international standards.
- Lead at least one Pioneering Research Group or Elite Research Group at UEH in accordance with the group’s operational cycle.
- Strengthen and expand UEH’s international collaboration network, acting as a key bridge to attract distinguished international scholars to work with UEH. This may include connecting UEH with additional partner universities, research institutes, international organizations, or experts through visiting appointments, research fellowships, or employment contracts. Specific KPIs will be agreed upon annually.
- Support university ranking activities.
- Contribute to research funding connections, including identifying, proposing, and implementing international research grants and funding opportunities. Specific KPIs will be agreed upon annually.
- Participate in the organization of international academic conferences at UEH and engage in seminars and academic activities with UEH’s schools, colleges, and institutes. Specific KPIs will be agreed upon annually.

- Financial honorarium: A competitive honorarium, agreed upon based on the candidate’s experience and expected contributions to UEH, with a typical monthly range of USD 1,500–2,000.
- Mobility and accommodation support: A round-trip standard economy class airfare; hotel/serviced apartment in the city center provided by UEH during the visiting period.
- Research resources: Dedicated workspace; access to local databases; support from research assistants.
- Administrative support: Full visa sponsorship and working permit assistance.
- Cultural and industry networking: Visits to historical sites; networking with business leaders from the UEH alumni network and policy makers.
